The arrestor is mainly composed of shell and filter element. The shell shall be strong enough to withstａnd the impact of the explosion. The filter element is the main component to prevent the flame propagation. Metal mesh filter element with diameter of 0.23~0.315mm stainless steel or copper mesh, multi-layer overlap composition. At present, arresters in China usually use 16~22 mesh metal mesh, for 4~12 layers.

Corrugated filter elements are supported by stainless steel, copper-nickel alloy, aluminum or aluminum alloy.
