What is a gear reducer? 

The gear reducer is also called the speed reducer. It is a transmission component composed of a plurality of gears. It can use gear engagement to change motor speed, torque and load capacity, and can also be used to achieve precision control.  

What is the speed reducer do? 

1. Change the output speed of the power machine (deceleration, increase or change) to suit the work needs of the working organization.

2. Change the torque output of the power machine to meet the requirements of the working mechanism.

3. Change the motion form output by the power machine into the motion form required by the working mechanism (e.g., change the rotation motion into a straight line motion, or vice versa).

4. Transfer the mechanical energy of a power machine to several working mechanisms, or transfer the mechanical energy of several power machines to one working mechanism.

5. Other special functions, such as machine assembly, installation, maintenance and safety, and the use of mechanical reducer device. Reducer is a relatively precise machine, the purpose of using it is to reduce the speed and increase the torque. There are many kinds of it, different models, different kinds have different classification of use.

The classifications and types of speed reducer

According to the transmission type, we generally divide the reducer into three types:

Planetary gear reducer

Compact size, high efficiency, low backlash and high torque-to-weight ratio are the advantages of planetary gears.

Planetary gearbox series are can divided into three kinds: The first deceleration (generally less than 10:1), the second deceleration (generally greater than 10:1 and less than or equal to 100:1), the third deceleration (some brands do not have the third level, large deceleration ratio to 100:1, the general division principle is greater than 100:1). 

Worm gear reducer

Worm gear reducer is commonly used in very high transmission ratio applications such as conveyors, winches and transporters.
