Construction
Aluminum Conductors Steel Reinforced DIN is a concentric stranded wire, with one or more layers of hard drawn 1350-H19 aluminum wire on the galvanized steel wire core. Depending on the size, the core can be single wire or twisted. The steel core wire can be galvanized with grade A, B or C for corrosion protection. Additional corrosion protection can be obtained by applying grease to the core or injecting grease into the complete conductor.
Application
The steel content of ACSR ranges from 6% to 40% to increase strength. High-strength steel-cored aluminum stranded wire is often used for installation across rivers, overhead grounding wires and ultra-long spans. ACSR conductor can resist any given resistance and produce different tensile strengths, so the high tensile strength combined with its light weight means it can cover longer distances with less support. Due to the larger diameter of ACSR, a higher corona limit can be obtained, which is beneficial to high and UHV overhead lines.
