3.1.2 Influence of iron core irregularity
The irregular iron core is mainly caused by the excessive punching burr, out-of-tolerance release from the mold and careless operators. The hazards are: (1) Iron loss and no-load current increase, which will affect the performance as described above; (2) The outer circle of the stator punching sheet is not neat, and for the low-voltage motor mainly based on heat conduction and heat dissipation, its temperature rise increases; (3) In order to consider the poor quality of the iron core, the main insulation of the motor has to be thickened. For example, for the main insulation of a 6kV motor, if the quality of the iron core is good, it can meet the requirements of insulation strength by wrapping 8 layers of 0.14×25mm mica tape in half. But at present, domestic motor manufacturers generally need to pack 10 layers, and some even pack 12 layers. The number of layers of the multi-pack is an extra margin due to the consideration of the uneven pressure of the iron core, which not only wastes the insulating material, but also makes the heat dissipation of the windings poor, which increases the temperature rise of the motor.
