How to correctly choose the thermal relay for three-phase asynchronous motor protection?
1. Selection of rated current of thermal relay and thermal element
The rated current of the thermal relay should be equal to or slightly greater than the rated current of the motor. The rated current of the thermal element should generally be selected slightly higher than 1.1 to 1.25 times the rated current of the motor.
2. Selection of other thermal relay data
Relevant data such as rated voltage, rated frequency, rated operating system, operating temperature range, installation category and protection level also come from the product catalog of thermal relays. The manufacturer of the three-phase asynchronous motor recommends that you consider that this corresponds to the actual use of the thermal relay when making the selection.
3. Quality inspection of thermal relay
After determining the model and current level of the thermal relay, it is necessary not only to visually inspect its quality, but also to quickly check whether the internal components are matched correctly, whether the action is flexible, whether the current setting button is working, and whether the connector is welded, etc. After all the requirements are met, a review must be conducted. The specific verification method must be carried out according to the relevant information or product manual.
4. Don't buy the obsolete type of thermal relay
The state has ordered the elimination of JRO, JR9, JR14, JR15, JR16-A, B, C, D, etc. The disposal date is December 31, 1997, and should not be considered in the selection. It will be replaced by JR20, T series, 3UA series, etc. The structure of these thermal relays can be divided into two types with phase loss protection and without phase protection, both of which are three-pole types. As long as the selection is appropriate, the overload and phase loss of the three-phase asynchronous motor can be prevented.
