Why is the motor insulation resistance zero?
The editor of LIYUAN Motor tells everyone that if the insulation resistance of a motor that has been running for a long time, stored for a long time or is in a standby state is equal to zero, or the insulation resistance value does not meet the requirements of the regulations, it indicates that the insulation of the motor is poor. The reasons are generally as follows:
① The motor is overloaded for a long time, and the heat is large, the heat dissipation is poor, and the insulation is aged.
②Due to the humid environment, water droplets into the motor, or cold air in the outdoor ventilation duct intrudes into the motor, causing the insulation to become damp and the insulation resistance to decrease.
③The insulation is mechanically damaged or chemically corroded, causing the winding to be grounded.
④ Charring or breakdown of the wiring glue board.
⑤Dust accumulates on the windings, or serious oil leakage from the bearings, oil stains and dust on the windings, resulting in reduced insulation resistance.
⑥ The conductive powder dropped by the abrasion of the slip ring or electric brush falls into the winding, causing the rotor insulation resistance to decrease.
For motors with poor insulation, clean them first, and then check whether the insulation is damaged. If there is no damage, dry it. After drying, test the insulation resistance. If it is still low, use the test method to find out the fault point and perform maintenance.
