FAQ
Why do high-power and large-capacity motors all use star-delta start?
For a squirrel-cage asynchronous motor whose stator winding is delta-connected in normal operation, if the stator winding is connected into a star shape when starting, and then connected into a triangle shape after the start is completed, the starting current can be reduced and its impact on the power grid can be reduced. The impact. This kind of starting method is called star-delta decompression starting, or simply called star-delta starting (Y-Δ starting).
When using star-delta starting, the starting current is only 1/3 of the original direct starting according to the delta connection. If the starting current during direct starting is calculated as 6~7Ie, the starting current is only 2~2.3 times during star-delta starting.
The starting current is reduced, and the starting torque is also reduced to 1/3 of the original direct starting according to the delta connection.
It can be seen that when the star-delta starting mode is adopted, the current characteristics are very good, but the torque characteristics are poor, so the objective existence is only suitable for no-load or light-load starting occasions. In other words, due to the small starting torque, the advantages of star-delta starting are still very significant, because the star-delta starter based on this starting principle has a simple structure and a lower price than any other decompression starter. In addition, the star-delta starting method has another advantage, that is, when the load is lighter, the motor can be operated in star connection. At this time, the rated torque can be matched with the load, which can improve the efficiency of the motor and save power consumption.
Y-△ reduced-voltage starting is also called star-delta reduced-voltage starting, referred to as star-delta reduced-voltage starting. The design idea of this line is still to control the starting process according to the time principle. The difference is that the stator windings of the motor are connected in a star shape when starting, and the voltage of each phase winding is the phase voltage (220V) of the power supply, which reduces the impact of the starting current on the power grid. In the later stage of its start, it is switched to delta connection according to the preset time, the voltage of each phase winding is the line voltage of the power supply (380V), and the motor enters normal operation. All squirrel-cage asynchronous motors whose stator windings are connected into triangles in normal operation can use this circuit.
The star-triangle should be:
1. The rated voltage of the motor is 380V to star-delta;
2. It is best to use a MCB in the main circuit, because the direction of the star and delta may be inconsistent.
