SJ connectors are both genderless and polarized connectors

SJ connectors are genderless, meaning the supply and load connectors are the same. Since there are no male or female parts, all SJ connectors mate with themselves.

SJ connectors are polarized, meaning the design is unique to prevent accidental reverse polarity connection. Only the positive (+) can be connected to positive (+) and negative (-) can be connected to negative (-). Connections can be quickly made and remade sightlessly or in the dark.

Flat wiping contact system

This system allows for minimal contact resistance at high current. The self-wiping action cleans contact surfaces during connection/disconnection. The contacts are rated at 10,000 no-load connect/disconnect cycles.

Same contacts on the “male" and “female" side reduce inventory costs and increase ease of assembly.

Low resistance connection has a large conducting surface and a high normal force in comparison to typical pin and socket contacts.

Sacrificial tip confines damage to non-conducting area when mating or breaking under load.

Raised surface on the mating side of the contacts secures the connector in the mated condition, limiting the need for latching on outer housings.

Over wiping design cleans the mating surface when mating and unmating.
