Aluminum Die Casting Bearing Housing , this part is a bearing housing applied on the tractor, the part geometry is reasonable, the thick wall is hollowed, have very big cavity, so on the mold, there will be a big feature protrude from the surface, then while feeding the mold, as the injection gate is located at the bottom of the surface, so when the high-speed molten aluminum is injected, it will hit the big protruded feature, leading to eddy or turbulence, what's more, because of the big round feature, sometimes the molten aluminum will start to be solid at the back area of the feature though not fill sufficiently, leading to cold shut, or shrinkage porosity. Meanwhile, the top of the part will also be a position with high risk of feeding problem, as it is far-distance end on the part, the most difficult area for aluminum to reach. For such problem, the control method is to increase the temperature of the molten aluminum, to supervise the die temperature with infrared thermometer.
Then, during actual production, the operator should work under the process parameters set up by the engineering according to the operation instruction. Visual inspect the condition of the castings at the back surface, no defect such as cold shut is allowed. The inspector also should attach importance to the color difference from the back area and front area. For the top area of the part, the two bosses are required to be tapped, so the CNC workshop should take a couple of pcs to have trial machining to observe is there is porosity at this area. If the filling of the casting is not well, the bosses may happen to be broken, or with careful visual inspection, we may find color difference at the boss, which like weld mark, how it comes? It is when two aluminum flow with different temperature come across but not merge well. In this case, the part will be easily broken at this joint surface, resulting in the scrap of the part.
