About motor
The circuit breaker has two trip modes: short circuit trip and thermal trip. Choose the general circuit breaker selection principle, pay attention to the range of the rated voltage and rated current of the open circuit.
There are two ways to trip the circuit breaker: short circuit trip and thermal trip. Short-circuit tripping refers to the huge current caused by short-circuit faults in the circuit, which makes the short-circuit tripper act quickly to disconnect the circuit and achieve the purpose of protection.
Thermal trip means that the current in the circuit exceeds the rated current of the circuit breaker, causing the trip unit to operate. This action time is related to the size of the current. The greater the current is greater than the rated current, the shorter the trip action time.
Although the current when the motor starts is very large (usually 5-7 times that of normal operation), as long as the current (starting current) of the motor is less than the operating time of the circuit breaker, the circuit breaker will not operate, and short-circuit tripping will not be achieved. Action point. It takes a certain time for the heat to release, enough for the motor to start. The choice of circuit breakers here is a bit too small. Since the actual current is very close to the rated current of the circuit breaker, the circuit breaker may malfunction after a long time operation. Thermal trips should be used to protect the motor from overheating.
