About motor insulation
Will the rapid expansion of global permanent magnet motors completely eliminate asynchronous motors?
So does it mean that asynchronous motors have lost the application market? Of course, it is too early to talk about this issue. There are also some technical barriers and weaknesses in permanent magnet motors. First of all, although permanent magnets bring performance advantages at low speeds, as the speed of permanent magnet motors increases, the back electromotive force approaches the inverter power supply voltage, making it impossible to control the winding current. This defines the basic speed of a general permanent magnet motor, and in surface magnet design usually represents the maximum possible speed for a given supply voltage. Second, the inherent fact that back-EMF is difficult to manage under fault conditions. Even if the inverter is disconnected, as long as the motor rotates, current will continue to flow through the winding failure, which will cause cogging torque and overheating, and both are dangerous.
Asynchronous motors have been widely used for many years, with mature technology, reliable quality, stable and durable operation, low cost, simple structure, convenient maintenance, and suitable for driving all kinds of machinery. The application range is currently much more comprehensive than permanent magnet synchronous motors. As for the impact of weight on the cruising range, if the battery cruising range is greatly increased in the future and the volume optimization of the asynchronous motor is done well, it is bound to have a strong impact on the permanent magnet synchronous motor.
