• There are two different valve mechanisms commonly used in angle valves. A compression mechanism has a threaded stem that tightens a washer or ground joint against the valve seat to stop fluid or gas flow when the handle is turned counterclockwise. On the other hand, an angle ball valve is a tight-fitting ball made of metal or plastic with a hole through it. Fluid passes through the spot when the valve is open, but when the handle is turned 90 degrees, the hole aligns perpendicularly to the flow and stops.

  What are the Causes of Valve Leakages?

   

  Valve leakages can occur for many reasons, but two main types are. It is based on the emission of fluid out via a leak. Here are these types;

   

  • Fugitive Emission In Atmosphere: This leak causes fluid to flow into the atmosphere. It can be damaging to the environment. Fluids leaking out can create problems for the public. It is visible if installed in visible locations. You should treat the leak immediately to get rid of the problem. Fugitive emission is the primary reason for worn-out valves and happens often.

   

  • Leaks within the Pipelines: This leak is more harmful and problematic. It happens in the valves and keeps draining within the pipelines. It’s more dangerous as we cannot notice whether there is an internal leakage going on or not. That’s why it’s necessary to keep inspecting valves for safety checks.

  Causes:

   

  • The most common cause of leakage in the valve is when a valve is closed or remains a little open.

   

  • It happens when the valve seat is not closed because of dirt or debris from the pipeline.

   

  • If you notice damage in the valve seat that lacks enough actuator level to regulate the valve, it might cause leakages.

   

  • Some natural reasons for the structural abilities of valves can be a cause of valve leakage.

   

  • Fugitive Emissions can occur due to a broken or damaged gasket bonnet and valve body. It can also occur due to worn-out or broken stem packing.
