No cockpit truck, a new solution for the development of intelligent logistics in the future

11. 15, 20220From: Intelligent manufacturing network sorting

【XWBOO Top News】 The development of vehicle electrification has not only brought a huge impact to the traditional automobile manufacturing industry, but also promoted the development of the intelligent logistics industry.

Logistics trucks have always been a must-have for autonomous driving. In 2022, 9 domestic unmanned truck companies such as Wincher Technology and Pony Smart Card received financing. Compared with these companies that are still planning and planning, Geely has already rushed to the track.

Recently, Geely's commercial vehicle brand Range, launched the first L4-class cockpit-less heavy truck and long-range super VAN. It is understood that this cockpit-free heavy truck will be put into trial in the port in 2023, and will gradually cover scenarios such as logistics parks, mining areas, and trunk lines in the future.

Why did the cockpit-free heavy truck land first in these scenes? This is due to the relative simplicity of these scenarios, the low requirements for autonomous driving technology, and the fact that its cargo carrying capacity is expected to be further increased due to the absence of a cockpit.

Whether in closed areas such as mines and factories, or in open roads such as branch lines, trucks are in huge demand, which has accelerated the industry's development towards autonomous driving. In the first three quarters of 2022, new energy heavy trucks continued to rise, of which electric heavy trucks rose significantly, and data showed that the cumulative sales of electric heavy trucks from January to September 2022 were 14,199 units, a year-on-year increase of 265.4%. Among them, the cumulative sales of battery replacement heavy trucks were 7,157 units, a cumulative increase of 4 times from 1,419 units from January to September last year.

Long-distance trunk line logistics pursues high timeliness, in order to pursue timeliness, the current heavy-duty truck freight is generally equipped with two drivers, which invisibly increases the labor cost for logistics transportation. The use of autonomous driving technology can reduce the number of drivers of a single truck to one, reducing transportation costs. In addition, the logistics and transportation industry is also facing the trend of aging drivers, and the autonomous driving system can maintain long-term sensitivity during long-distance driving, thereby reducing traffic accidents caused by human factors.

In addition to the intelligence of bicycles, Geely is embarking on building an intelligent and unmanned three-dimensional logistics network. According to remote introduction, this is a set of logistics open source system, which will fully integrate the surface ecosystem and promote zero-carbon land transportation and sustainable development. In the future, Remote will make full use of the Beidou-3 system and the Tiantong-1 satellite mobile communication system to develop unmanned intelligent logistics.

At present, the boundary between passenger cars and commercial vehicles is still very obvious, and the emergence of long-range super VAN is expected to break through the passenger business boundary. "IKEA IKEA" is the positioning of the car, long-range super VAN can be transformed into urban logistics vehicles, unmanned intelligent warehouses, camper vans, live broadcast vehicles, mobile coffee trucks, customized ride-hailing cars, etc.

It is understood that the remote super VAN will be delivered in small batches for trial in the second half of 2023, mass production delivery in the first half of 2024, and gradually going global. In the future, overseas market sales will account for 50% of the overall sales of remote super VAN.

The two products released by Geely Remote not only promote the commercialization of autonomous driving, but also create a new design language, break through the shackles of traditional design thinking, and promote the development of the entire industry with new autonomous driving technology. It is believed that driven by Geely's two products, the intelligent development of the logistics industry will be further accelerated.
