The rated current IN of a three-phase asynchronous motor is the stator input line current when the motor is applied with rated voltage and rated frequency to output rated power, generally in amperes (A). It is a theoretical calculation value. For a three-phase AC motor, the calculation method is as follows: IN=PN/(√3UNηNcos∮N). Where: IN——Rated current, A; PN——Rated power, W; UN——Rated voltage, V; ηN——The efficiency standard value specified in the technical conditions of the motor; cos∮N——The technical conditions of the motor The standard value of the power factor specified in.


eg: A certain motor PN=15KW, UN=380V, ηN=88.5%, cos∮N=0.85, then IN=15000/(√3×380×0.885×0.85)=30.3(A)


For low-power motors, when the PN unit is KW, the rated current IN≈2PN. eg: In the above example, IN≈2PN=2×15=30. This is a simple notation for estimating the rated current. When using this simple algorithm, the low-power motor ηN and cos∮N are relatively low, so you can appropriately increase the point multiple, such as 2.2PN; on the contrary, the high-power motor ηN and cos∮N are relatively high, so you can appropriately reduce the multiple, such as 1.9PN.
