How to prevent motor fire?

1. In order to meet the requirements of moisture-proof, anti-corrosion, dust-proof and explosion-proof, choose the appropriate motor according to the different working environment.

2. The motor and its starting device should keep a proper distance from combustible objects. No debris should be piled around the motor.


3. Each motor should be equipped with an independent operating switch and suitable protection devices.

4. In order to prevent mechanical damage, the cable should be connected to the motor with a protective tube, and the lead-in cable joint or cable sleeve should be directly connected to the motor junction box.

5. For motors that have not been used for a long time, the insulation resistance of their windings should be measured before use, and the insulation resistance value should be greater than 0.5MΩ.

6. The daily inspection and maintenance work should be done for the running motor, and the problems should be dealt with in time. The power supply voltage should be checked frequently, the fluctuation should be less than +10% or -5%, the voltage unbalance should be less than ±5%, the current unbalance should be less than 10%, and the temperature rise should not exceed the specified value.


When a fire occurs in the motor, the power supply should be cut off immediately. For rotating electric motors, the shaft and bearing should be prevented from deforming during fire fighting. Do not use dry powder, sand, soil and water when extinguishing fires.
